Kevin Chavis

How did you get started in the fastener industry?
I got into this industry strictly by accident. I was young and frustrated with the place I was working and our screw vendor said I should come work with him. Thirty-one years later I am still here!

What is the best advice you ever got?
"Work hard and be the best that you can be. Never stop learning!"

Do you have a personal goal for 2020?
I just want to get 2020 out of the way. This is been the strangest year ever and I hope we never have to go through anything like this again. Bring on 2021!

What inspires you?
I like the fact that every day is something new in this business. I learn something new all of the time. When I think I may know it all, something comes up that I have to learn.

When you were a child, what did you want to be as a grown-up?
I had no idea what I wanted to be as a child, or young adult for that matter. I just got lucky and found something that I like and it's been good to me.

What do you do when you're not at work?
It used to be softball and golf, but COVID has put a pause on those sports. I have been practicing my cooking skills, however, and my waistline is showing it! I'm glad that we finally have some sports to live sports to watch on TV too.

What is your favorite vacation destination?
I love Hawaii for a nice relaxing vacation. I really want to go back to Italy, we had a wonderful trip and did not see anywhere near all that we wanted to.

What TV show did you binge most recently?
With more time on our hands now there have been several binge-worthy shows. Yellowstone has been good, The Handmaid's Tale, and Billions. I really liked Mr. Mercedes but not sure where it is shown now.

Who is your favorite singer or group?
I have a wide variety of musical likes. I wish that I had learned to play an instrument, but will have to settle for playing a mean radio!

Do you have a personal message you'd like to share with Pac-West and the industry?
I hope that everyone stays safe and healthy. Hang in there, this will end someday. Practice good habits and help it end sooner, rather than later. We all need to continue to support each other and loot and the long game.
