Meet the Board

Q & A with Jo Morris

Position on the Board: Vice President

Jo Morris

How did you get started in the fastener industry?
I was hired by John Wachman and Yates Hudson at Copper State Bolt and Nut to work in their Mesa, AZ branch.  This was right after I graduated from Arizona State University (my first “real” job).  I helped inside sales, answered phones, and miscellaneous administrative tasks.

What is the best advice you ever got?
"Always show up on time and follow through with your promises."

Do you have a personal goal for 2020?

To climb the 14,060' summit of Mount Bierstadt!

What inspires you?

People who do not give up. I think of my neighbor regularly who as an early adult fell while running fracturing her spinal cord, paralyzing her from the waist down.  She was a marathon runner now forced to live in a wheelchair.  Several years later she suffered a stroke leaving her unable to talk.  This woman continues to smile and get up and move every day.  She participates in races using her arms only in her wheelchair, swims daily, bakes, volunteers and the list goes on and on.  I have never seen her without a wave and a smile.

When you were a child, what did you want to be as a grown-up?
A teacher.

What do you do when you're not at work?
Anything with my family. We love to ski, hike, and ride our mountain bikes. I have started golfing again with my husband after a ten-year lapse due to kids! I also love getting together with friends to bar-b-que or just sip some wine by a fire.

What is your favorite vacation destination?
Hilton Head, South Carolina.

What TV show did you binge most recently?
Ozark (on Netflix).

Who is your favorite singer or group?
This literally changes five times per day depending on where I am and who is with me!
- With my husband or in the mountains:  American blues rock (Joe Bonamassa)
- Snow days: Light jazz or R&B
- Driving: Country rock (Zach Brown Band)
- With the kids: Mainstream pop (Adele)
- Sunday dinner: Light classical (Every Sunday, during dinner)
